Are 240SX prices are skyrocketing or it's just me being cheap?

No, I think that that guy is just asking too much for a beaten up car. I'd pay $500 Max.

I've owned a hand-full of S13/S14s and that thing not only looks overpriced by about $1.5k but is also extremely thrashed. The only thing worth anything on that car is the motor and even that's debatable.

It's not what people are asking, it's what people are paying

They are here because drift. Every single one is beaten, or half done project. Very rarely do I see a clean one pop up.

meanwhile preludes are a bit more taken care of, mostly because nearly all have slush boxes.

I saw a completely stock one being driven by an older lady a while back. I cant remember the last time I saw one stock other than that. The drift/ boost brahs are ruining these!

I noticed the same thing when looking for Miatas. They're all around $1000 more than they used to be a few years ago.

240sx's are overpriced due to drifting, SR20DET swap/turbo KA24DE potential, and dozens of body kits. they got cheap enough that legit tuners and drifters took an interest, so then in came the imitators and newbies that got themselves in way over their heads.

"how hard could it be to swap in a completely different motor? oh, it is hard. well, I want what I paid for the running car I trashed plus what I paid for the motor I cannot install."

"how hard can drifting really be? oops, burned up the clutch and rammed the (rear or front) end into a curb. well, I want what I paid for the running car I trashed as it's now a full-0n drift car."

and that's the current state of 240sx's. :(

there was a stock S14 automatic on craigslist a while back. car had I believe 170k miles on it and he was asking $7k! for a 20 year old, mid-tier Nissan car! the ad went down so I'm presuming he got close to what he was asking...

Because turbo bro!

What it doesnt come stock? Ill slap one on!

DRIFTING KING!

A conversation along those lines went down with the new owner and their buddies.

Its quite a shame cause I would love to have a stock one just to cruise around in. If anything just do a manual swap( if it isnt manual already) lower and rims. Stupid people man.

and I'd actually love to have an automatic S14 as a fourth vehicle for girlfriend driving/dog hauling/going to places I wouldn't want to take my Carrera to purposes. but not when I can get a Lexus SC300/SC400 - let alone an IS300 for the same price. :O
